Coca Cola’s Sprite brand was relaunched in the United States with a television and web campaign called ‘Sublymonal Advertising’. As the online extension of the surrealistic new campaign for Sprite, subLYMONal.com took the notion of subliminal messaging to deeper, more subversive levels than the TV spots.
The online campaign was first introduced through a website dedicated to fans of the television series Lost. Advertisements for a fictional company, Hanso Foundation, began to introduce subtle references to the emerging Sublymonal campaign. Visitors to the site were invited to enter passwords to unlock videos, auctions at Ebay, unreleased music tracks and a lot more.
